When Does It Start?

The group starts on June 12th and it goes day by day, live on Beachbody On Demand.  You will not be able to look ahead.  Each workout is posted live that morning.  It is a perfect way to really jumpstart your summer through my support and accountability group.

How to get it?  You need to make me your coach and get Beachbody On Demand through me as your coach.

Secondly, there is a great modifier so even if you don’t like being down on the floor you can modify with Shaun T and he gives you that option.  These workouts are like the best of Shaun T – his greatest hits!

 

THE WORKOUTS:

Insane Basics:  Go Slow, form over speed, work through it.

Pure Cardio Part 2:  It is going to be amazing!  You don’t go to the floor at all.

Insane Weights:  This workout is hitting the weights in an Insanity format.

25 Abs:  25 minutes of abs that is so ridiculously amazing that you will need to pray before do it! LOL

BrickSanity:  Asylum strength and T25 mixture and a lot of insane craziness!

Speed 4.0:  Speed workout similar to what you did in T25 Speed 1.0 and 2.0

Dig Deep is how you end the week with a bang!  This is BANANA’s YO!!!!  This sounds like Friday Fight From Max 30.

And it won’t stop at the end of 7 days.  It’s Shaun Week and MORE! 😉 I’m running this as a full 21 day challenge where you’ll have the option to continue with a hybrid of other Shaun T workouts – available on Beachbody on Demand, or continuing with any of the HUNDREDS of different workout available! There is a lot more in store for you after those 7 days!

I see my friends and family members getting fitter and healthier than ever!

I see my passport and travel arrangements on the kitchen table as my husband and I prepare to leave in 2 weeks for an all expense paid trip to Punta Cana!

Is this really my life?

Coaching has changed my life for the better in every possible way! I never saw myself doing this, but now I can’t see anything else!

A Tale of 2 Beach Vacations

These pictures were about 1 1/2 years apart but there is a world of difference – both in what you can see, and what you can’t see.

About 4 years ago I took a look at myself in the mirror and decided I was finally done being unhappy! I had been stuck in a rut for FAR too long. Looking at pictures of myself from our summer vacation really opened my eyes to what was happening. It was slow, but I was steadily gaining weight and finding it harder and harder to fit and feel comfortable in my clothes.

There were a lot of things I didn’t want to admit to myself. I wasn’t REALLY giving it my all with workouts anymore. I was just kinda going through the motions. I wasn’t REALLY eating all that healthy. There was a lot of processed garbage finding its way into my grocery cart. Convenience trumped health. I was complacent, uncommitted and UN-motivated!

I think you go through phases when this starts to happen.

1. DENIAL: It’s my clothes. They shrunk. My scale must be off! (Don’t tell me you haven’t tried to convince yourself with these same lies!)

2. AVOIDANCE: Scale? What scale? I like baggy, stretchy clothes anyway.

3. DEPRESSION: Why is this happening?! I workout! I eat ‘pretty’ healthy food. It’s not fair! Get away from me with that camera! WAHHH!!! I’m going to assume the fetal position in a dark room. Leave me alone!

4. DEFEAT: Well, what the hell. I’m getting older. This is just what happens. There isn’t ANYTHING I can do about it. I’m not going to live the rest of my life worrying about it. I want to ENJOY life and eat whatever the hell I want. Working out is stupid. I don’t care anymore.

5. REALIZATION: I feel like shit. I don’t fit into any of my clothes. I’m tired all of the time. I’m not enjoying life at all right now! I’m sick of feeling like this. I gotta do something!

What stage are you in? If you’re in 1-4, let me save you the trouble and spoil the ending. You’ll eventually get to #5, because no matter how hard we try to convince ourselves that we can’t, or don’t want to feel look and feel healthy, we do. You’re not kidding anyone (or yourself) when you say otherwise. I know…I tried!

There’s a happy ending though! 🙂 I had to dig deeper than ever, and really connect with WHY I wanted/needed to make some changes, and really give it my absolute, 100% ALL!

Busy Mom to Business Mom

 

When I first signed up to be a coach with Beachbody it was because I already loved the products and programs and I was just looking for a way to save some money.

Along the way, people would ask me almost daily what I was doing, and how they could get started. I started sharing a little about my journey. I put some groups together where we could talk about our workouts, healthy recipes and just support each other every day and help each other stay on track.

A few months and 24 pounds later, I realized I could turn this in to a real SIDE HUSTLE and maybe contribute some additional money to my family and the ever-growing grocery bill! (family of 6 eats a lot!)

But it turned in to more than grocery money. I was able to set aside money for family vacations. We replaced our aging vehicles. I even started my own little college savings account a few years ago! As I was doing my taxes this year I noticed that ‘little’ account is up to about $15,000! That makes me feel immensely proud of myself!

4 and a half years later that SIDE HUSTLE has replaced my full time income, though I only “work” 2-3 hours/day doing something I LOVE to do! Essentially I get paid to get fit, and help other people do the same!

I’m not a fitness expert or nutritionist. I’m just a busy mom who took a little leap of faith and became a work at home Business Mom. I love what I do! I love the people I’ve met. Paying it forward to other busy moms is a gift! I often say I would do it for free but they insist on paying me!

Crack Slaw

There’s a reason this is called ‘crack slaw’.

It’s easy to stay on track when you find delicious food you could eat again and again. We fight over leftovers with food like this. 🙂 It’s got a great flavor without pasta or rice to fill you up and make you feel bloated.
This is so quick and easy to make, too! Great for meal prepping for a week of healthy lunches/dinners. If you’re following a container nutrition plan (like 21 Day Fix) this is great! No yellows!  Those precious yellows can be hard to avoid…you won’t even miss the carbs. It’s also paleo-friendly!

Ingredients 
1 pound lean ground turkey (or beef)
1 T. sesame oil (any oil would work)
2-3 cloves garlic – minced
3 green onions – chopped
1/2 large head green cabbage – chopped
1 carrot – shredded
1/4 cup broth (chicken/veggie whatever)
3 T low sodium soy sauce or liquid aminos
1/2 t hot sauce
1 t. vinegar (apple cider or white work fine)
1/2 t. ginger (fresh would be great! Dry is fine too.)
4-5 drops of stevia extract (or small amount of sweetener of choice)
salt & pepper to taste
Directions
Brown turkey or beef in skillet, seasoned with salt and pepper. Meanwhile combine soy sauce, hot sauce, vinegar, ginger and stevia. Once the meat is cooked thoroughly, remove from pan, drain and set aside. Add oil to pan and sauté onions, garlic, carrot and cabbage. Add the broth. Cook until cabbage is as tender as you like. Add sauce mixture and meat. Mix to combine and enjoy!Makes 4 servings: 1 red and 1 green

Mint Chocolate Muffins

Chocolate muffins that will fool friends and family members! These healthy, flourless muffins are quick and easy, 21 Day Fix – approved and dee-lish! So moist and chocolatey, they are a perfect treat for when cravings strike! And nobody will know about your ‘secret ingredient’.

I’m always looking for healthy treats and snacks for the kids, and well…sometimes they are TOO tasty. These were gone in less than 3 hours from the time I made them. But the are so quick and easy to make…I don’t mind whipping up another batch. 😉

Ingredients

  • 1 (15-oz.) can chickpeas (garbanzo beans), drained, rinsed
  • 3 large eggs
  • ½ cup raw honey
  • ⅓ cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1 tsp. baking soda
  • 3 Tbsp. coconut oil, melted
  • ½ tsp. pure peppermint extract

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350° F.
  2. Prepare 12 muffin cups by lining with muffin papers or coating with nonstick cooking spray; set aside.
  3. Place chickpeas, eggs, honey, cocoa powder, baking soda, coconut oil, and extract in blender or food processor; cover. Blend until smooth.
  4. Place batter in a medium bowl.
  5. Divide batter among 12 prepared muffin cups.
  6. Bake for 10 to 12 minutes, or until toothpick inserted in center comes out clean.
  7. Cool completely and enjoy!

1 muffin = 133 calories and 4 grams protein

2017 is here! Big goals ahead!

I don’t know about you, but I’ve got BIG goals in 2017! I get excited about the new year – what’s not to love about the prospects to make this your best year yet! I’m looking forward to a full-recovery from foot surgery and very optimistic about returning to my beloved workouts in the coming weeks! It’s amazing how much you miss something that might formerly have been a struggle to do, when you’re told you can’t do it!

I’m so ready to start 2017 strong! I’ve been in such a slump! I have used every excuse in the book – some legit, some not so much – to NOT workout consistently the last couple of weeks!

I have felt discouraged that I can’t workout the way I want to until my foot heals from surgery. I feel lost without being plugged in to a program. We were super busy with the holidays. Our house has been in a state of total disrepair for over a month during remodeling. The kids have been sick off and on…

And blah blah blah! As a result I feel like yuck! I’m doughier than I’d like to be and I’ve fallen in to some old bad habits. And now I’m just over it!

I’m sick of myself and my excuses. The fact is I CAN workout – it just looks different than before. I can make time – even if I have to reschedule and/make a few sacrifices. I can eat healthy food – even if it’s a struggle sometimes.

I know how to do what it takes to feel better!
I’m done talking about it.
I’m just gonna do it!

Thinner Thinner Turkey Dinner

The average # of calories a person eats on Thanksgiving!

There are some traditional dishes that are really easy to lighten up! Get all the taste with half the calories, and a lot less regret!

Recipes like this healthier green bean casserole! *I’m a sucker for a GBC! No canned soup in this recipe which cuts the calories, fat and sodium in HALF!

Ingredients

  • 5 Tbsp. whole wheat purpose flour, divided use
  • ½ tsp. paprika
  • ½ tsp. garlic powder
  • 1 medium onion, (½ onion thinly sliced, ½ onion chopped), divided use
  • 3 tsp. olive oil, divided use
  • 8 oz sliced mushrooms
  • ½ tsp. onion powder
  • 3 fresh thyme sprigs, leaves removed and chopped, stems discarded
  • ½ tsp. sea salt
  • ½ tsp. ground black pepper
  • ½ cup nonfat milk
  • 2 Tbsp. dry sherry wine
  • 1 lb. frozen French-cut green beans
  • 1 cup nonfat plain yogurt

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 400° F.
  2. Combine 2 Tbsp. flour, paprika, and garlic powder in a medium bowl; mix well.
  3. Add sliced onion; mix until well coated. Set aside.
  4. Heat 2 tsp. oil in large nonstick skillet over medium-high heat.
  5. Add sliced onion mixture; cook, turning once or twice, for 3 to 5 minutes, or until golden brown and crisp. Remove from skillet and place on a paper towel. Set aside. Wipe skillet clean.
  6. Heat remaining 1 tsp. oil in skillet over medium-high heat.
  7. Add chopped onions; cook, stirring frequently, for 2 to 4 minutes, or until translucent.
  8. Add mushrooms; cook, stirring frequently, for 5 to 6 minutes, or until the liquid released from mushrooms is almost completely evaporated.
  9. Add remaining 3 Tbsp. flour, onion powder, thyme, salt, and pepper; mix until vegetables are coated.
  10. Add milk and sherry; cook, stirring frequently, for 4 to 5 minutes, or until bubbly and slightly thickened.
  11. Add green beans; cook, stirring frequently, for 2 to 3 minutes, or until heated through.
  12. Add yogurt; mix until combined.
  13. Place green bean mixture in casserole dish. Top with onion mixture.
  14. Bake for 10 to 15 minutes, or until casserole is bubbly.

Counting My Blessings

I’m just sitting here reflecting on the last 4 years of my life, how I ended up here, and what I’d miss desperately if I hadn’t taken a little leap of faith.

I hung out with these beauties last weekend. We laughed our asses off. We cried our heads off. We did some hiking, played games, went for a run, ate delicious food and sat around soul-searching, planning and strategizing how to reach our goals and learn how to help more people find a path to health and financial freedom! Not necessarily a typical ‘girls weekend’, but these are my people and I can’t imagine my life without them.

Four years ago I was struggling. Physically I just wasn’t where I wanted to be. I hated looking in the mirror. My clothes weren’t fitting and I was at a loss! I was working out almost daily. And eating what I thought was ‘pretty healthy’ food. Well…it wasn’t working. Not only was I not making any progress, I was steadily gaining weight and I was getting desperate! I even found myself lingering by the diet pills at the store, looking for a quick fix – though I knew better.

I called my friend who was a Beachbody coach, because I wanted to try a new workout program – and P90X had worked for me in the past – so I was ready to recommit and give it my best effort to see if I could make some changes and finally get results. That included Shakeology. Nutrition was key, and I knew it. I had done a LOT of research and as a busy mom, I just needed a quick, healthy meal that I could grab on the go. I justified the expense by giving up soda, fast food and fancy Starbucks. I saved even more money by signing up as a “coach” so I could save 25% on my Shakeology and any other programs or products I wanted. (I’m a lifelong Beachbody fan…so I knew I’d use it!)

I really had no intention of “coaching”, I just needed to work on myself first! Well, then I got plugged into a challenge group, and found myself surrounded by other moms and women working on goals of their own. I found it very motivating and I had GREAT success with it! Meanwhile… people were asking my what I was doing and I was sharing a little about my journey on social media. I had enough interest to put together a group of my own. And that started my coaching “career”. I’ve run at least one group every month since then, met hundreds of women in my challenge groups, networked with amazing ladies like these and found my true passion through helping others!

And now four years later, I make more than I did as a full-time teacher. I’ve lost 24 pounds and kept it off through my monthly accountability groups. I would NEVER ask people to do something that I wasn’t doing myself…so it’s amazing accountability! I’ve traveled to Las Vegas, Nashville, South Beach, beach house get-aways and in just a few months my husband and I will be heading on an all-expense paid vacation to Punta Cana! All for doing something I LOVE to do! Working part-time hours, from home, where, when, how and with whom I want! These ladies are just a few of the amazing women I’ve had the privilege to get to know and work with every day.

We have so much stinking fun together…it’s CRAZY to me that I didn’t know any of them just a few short years ago, and now I feel like we’ve been bff’s!

But don’t just take it from me! You know I’m a fan! This has changed my life and my families lives in more ways than I can count! I’m happier, healthier and wealthier!

I know that at any time or point in my life someone will be there no matter what. Also, I finally feel that I’m not alone. Someone will always have my back.What I love most about coaching is that I can do what I do best, which is to be me. As hard it has been to admit that I am a task master and a caregiver, I have realized that I can use what I thought as negative traits for good. It has always been in my nature to help others and be there for them and now I can do it on an even broader scale. ❤

3) The people I get to meet and become friends with. You can’t find more positive, driven folks than your fellow Beachbody coaches. The people you surround yourself with help define you. I want to be a kick-ass mom/friend/coach.

2) I’ve always been a farewell friend of a healthy lifestyle. I liked living it for a while, then when things got tough or something more enticing came along, that was the first thing I’d drop. (I didn’t have time to __________) Since I started coaching, I have been living a healthy lifestyle for 145 days. Yes there are bad days, but that doesn’t mean that I can’t keep going. I’ve learned that one bad day does not mean that all is lost.
3) I love to learn that I’m not alone in my struggles and temptations. I love sharing and helping others know that they aren’t alone in there’s. I love that even when I meet women for the first time, I’m greeted by a big hug just like I’m the sister they haven’t seen in forever. I love that by helping others stay on track, I am kept on track. Coaching has helped me find myself, and is continually helping me to grow into the person I want to be.

2) Something I have overcome… I get to talk about fitness without annoying people now 😂 Seriouslly I used to want to boast about what I did that day. Now people expect it from me. I never was trying to boast but it was so exciting for me to do things I couldn’t of wouldn’t before starting my journey. I have also overcome self doubt. I have done things in the last 20 months that I never would have even considered. I.e. 3) Shave my head just bc my friends encouraged me to to stop being a wussy. 😜
I love being a coach because it’s a never ending journey of striving towards something bigger than yourself. I have a community of people who are (as I described to a friend today) “just BETTER people than me”. My community calls me HIGHER. I don’t get to stay stuck or become passive because there is always something to work towards bigger than myself!
